Strong Amazon and eBay Results Suggest Great Quarter for LiveDeal

LiveDeal Inc.’s (NASDAQ – LIVE - $2.99 – Spec Buy) ecommerce peers Amazon and eBay recently reported better than expected results for the most recently completed quarter which suggests that the Company is also primed for strong results for the first quarter of 2015.

Although revenue was a bit light for eBay with growth of around 4%, its profit soundly beat Wall Street estimates and the Company boosted its future outlook as well. For its part, Amazon reported a 22% rise in sales for the period, excluding the negative effect of foreign currency.  According to Alexa, the Company’s Modern Everyday ecommerce website enjoys a 2:1 advantage in page views and a similar outperformance in terms of time on the site over these peers. Armed with these metrics and the eBay and Amazon results, investors can expect that year-over-year and quarterly sequential sales should be strong and could meet or exceed the type of top-line growth exhibited by Amazon.

Separately, a new industry research report forecasts that online retailers should increase revenue by double digits in 2015. This sentiment affirms the expectation that 2015 should be a record revenue year for LiveDeal. The key takeaway from the survey is that fully 75% of respondents noted a positive outlook on retail in 2015 and 72% anticipate online revenue to increase by 17%. This recently released report, the 2015 Retail Growth Outlook, is a publication of eBay Enterprise, an eBay Inc. company. The authors of the report surveyed more than 1,000 ecommerce and marketing professionals from retailers with revenues of $3 million to $250 million examined projected revenue forecasts and critical decisions retailers will make this year to achieve anticipated growth.

With strong numbers already in for major online retailers and a new report suggesting continued online retailer growth this year, it appears to be full speed ahead for LiveDeal’s ecommerce business in 2015.
